First things First
First Post of my first Blog
I have decided to launch my first professional (and personal) blog today, second January, 2018.
I have always been attracted to the number two, perhaps because it is an even number which makes it a nurture number, given my modest understanding of numerology enabled me to ponder further on the energies of each singular number. Though I hardly noticed it, but even the characters that I create in my fictitious writings were born generally on the second of some month.
In fact, one of the closest soul to my own in real life which I consider a soul-mate, rather a twin-flame that I have come to know in this lifetime happens to be born on the second February, which is basically the second month of the year!
But the decision to create this blog, and therefore this post, however may it seem deliberate or intentional, it still has come to be realized almost randomly.
It's been months that I've had this idea of creating my own platform, and now I am extremely euphoric that it is HAPPENING.
Let me give you a little, brief idea about myself before I go on explaining the reason why I am contributing with this blog to the already-existent community on the web.
I am an inquisitive human being who happens to be born in Morocco, Marrakesh in the last century. Now in my early twenties, I am still navigating my personal life-path and trying to make sense of it, how it aligns to my surrounding, the communities I belong to and the entire conversation that the world is having... And my name is Imad Afdam.
I have recently graduated from Masters studies 'Applied Foreign Languages and International Relations' from Cadi Ayad University. For my last term in the program, I was sent as an exchange student to Czech Republic in order to conduct a field research in Anthropology for my final term paper. This academic journey enabled me to visit many European countries such as France, Germany, Poland, Hungary, Spain, Austria, etc... of course, apart from my extra-personal discovery and communication with the abstract, I forged incredible relationships with people and cemented wonderful friendships whose price are truly over the price of rubies.
Last August I published my first poetry book in English Language, Then The Dawn Returns, available as a Paperback and/or eBook on Smashwords, Lulu and Amazon.
I decided to self-publish it for the simple reason that next to no publishing house in my country agreed to publish poetry in the English language, and if they were to agree, the book had to be translated in either Arabic or French to meet an expected amount of readership. Not that I did not concur with the idea, but I simply imagined it differently. This is an extremely personal and raw book of my own, arguably my first child-off marriage and off-partner.
I am neither its mother or its father, and I may be both.
Strangely enough, I have experienced a relatively important amount of attention from Moroccan press, and a couple of interviews about my book have surfaced physical and online newspapers.
Having said that, it is vital to add to my repertoire that I have come, (from a long way), from a cinematic background too.
During my Bachelor years, I have worked extensively on movie sets, sometimes I had to travel to our Moroccan Cinematic Mecca, 'Ouerzazat' so that I can find potential recruitment.
I have been trained as a screenwriter from numerous international and local courses and I have collaborated on many written projects which understandably have not yet seen the light of the day!
Sometimes, works of art necessitate an extra stretch of time cradling in the obscure, lest this existence in the obscure becomes a ritual loop.
Perhaps the description that I wrote underneath the Blog title says it all. I am a very, very hungry soul. I steal from conversations, I stare, long enough and sometimes short enough at visual art, I command my ears to each and every form of music, I allow myself to breathe the scenery, and let my brain articulate what it has to say with its very limited jargon about it all and then I vomit. And whether it stays for second, minutes, or mere hours, I am proud that I reacted, even with the most disgusting behavior.
For my Bachelor thesis I researched on the art of performance. Entering the world of Thespians helped me understand a great deal of human condition, the strength and vulnerability of character. It has earned me a profound outlook of psychology, sociology, etc.
Aside from my theatrical, poetical, well, literary in general, and cinematic experiences, I am incredibly fond of the mystical and the mysterious. It's been four years now that I have been duly introduced to Astrology, Numerology, and it allowed me to understand the meticulous and finest details about our own universe.
It has become almost a prayer for me that on a daily basis, I have to learn something new about Astrology, and Astronomy as well, owing that it is basically the most useful grammar tool with which one can understand astrology so to speak. I fathom philosophy, theology, alchemy and all these brain-wrecking odd subjects that have risen questions, problems and problematics more that they have given answers.
I guess now You can get the meaning behind the chosen title of my blog: Quill of Cosmos.
And I guess this is too long for the first post of my first blog!
In fear that I will bore you to death reading endless word after word after word, dear readers, I decide not to go on and continue with the reason why I am creating this blog as I have expressed before.
Perhaps this post and futuristic posts shall answer. Answer you and answer me too. I pray my words will meet your words, words are not boring after all, at least from a language perspective.
As Margaret Atwood said: A word after a word after a word is power!
Great piece of writing. I enjoyed every word of it. Very artistic.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your time and energy! Cheers Professor.
